Boris Johnson has called on the EU to assess the UK's final proposals for changing the terms of Brexit. He received it on Wednesday. According to European Commission member Gunther Oettinger, the British government's proposed option is not satisfactory. He explained the reason for the rejection of London's proposals. The main contentious issue is the insurance plan. The European Commission is convinced that it will solve the problem of the Irish border, provided there are no restrictions on its time of operation. London's proposals are only for a few years. Oettinger stressed that the European Commission still believes that the existing version of the insurance plan included in the Brexit agreement is the only correct one. It meets all the necessary requirements. There are three weeks left until the date of the UK's exit from the EU. But uncertainty about how this will happen and whether it will happen at all remains.
