European Bank to publish data on foreign exchange market transactions

The ECB announced the decision, which concerns increasing transparency of the bank's work. Starting from April next year, he will publish statistics on transactions that have been conducted in the foreign exchange market. The European Central Bank said in a statement that the reports will also provide information on the strategies used and an assessment of the situation in the financial markets. So far, the European Central Bank has intervened in the foreign exchange market only twice. The first time was immediately after the creation of the European Union. It happened in 2000. The second time was in 2011. Then the intervention was carried out as a measure necessary to contain the yen after the strongest earthquake in the country. Data on operations in the foreign exchange market will be published quarterly. Experts note that this decision may be due to the fact that the European Central Bank plans to increase its activity in the foreign exchange market in the future.
