Sales in the secondary housing market in the United States fell by 2.2%

This is down 2.2% from August sales. Analysts had forecast a decline in sales, but only by 0.7%. Compared to the same month in 2018, sales increased by 3.9%. In 12 months, the average cost of an apartment building has risen to $272,000. The growth was 5.9%. In the reporting month, there was an increase in sales of multi-family homes. At the same time, the sale of single-family homes has fallen. In September, the share of buyers who made a deal with residential real estate for the first time increased. It increased from 31% to 33%. Only those transactions that have already been closed are taken into account in the statistics on sales in the secondary housing market. In the United States, the secondary residential real estate market is popular with Americans. Almost 90% of all housing transactions account for this market.
